About Me

I am a licensed psychologist with nearly a decade of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in both school and clinical settings. My focus is helping individuals transform dysfunctional patterns of thinking and emotion into more functional, manageable ones. I don't believe therapy should aim to make anxiety or depression disappear entirely—that's unrealistic. Instead, my goal is to help you shift overwhelming anxiety into manageable concern, and paralyzing depression into appropriate sadness that doesn't control your life.

How we think about and talk about our internal experiences can either perpetuate or reduce our symptoms. I work collaboratively with clients to identify and challenge the irrational beliefs and thought patterns that keep them stuck, using evidence-based strategies that create lasting change.

My Philosophy

My therapeutic approach enters on working with adolescents and adults who experience anxiety, depression, and executive functioning struggles. I also have particular expertise in supporting clients exploring identity issues, as well as the full range of clinical and non-clinical challenges people face in their daily lives. Whether you're dealing with life transitions, relationship difficulties, identity development, or simply feeling stuck, I'm here to help you move forward.

I take an active-directive approach to therapy. This means I don't just listen—I actively challenge unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, provide homework assignments, and teach practical strategies you can apply between sessions. Therapy is work, and I'm here to work alongside you to create meaningful change. If you're looking for someone who will simply validate your feelings without pushing you to grow, I'm probably not the right fit. But if you want someone who will respectfully challenge you while supporting your progress, we might work well together.

In addition to psychotherapy, I conduct psychoeducational evaluations on a case-by-case basis. These comprehensive assessments are particularly helpful for individuals who suspect they may have ADHD, a learning disability, or autism spectrum disorder, or for families seeking to understand their child's unique cognitive and academic profile.

Training and Experience

I earned my Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D.) from the University of Southern Maine in 2020.Prior to that, I received my Master of Science in School Psychology from St. John's University in 2016, where I specialized in cross-battery and multicultural assessment approaches. I hold my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Fordham University.

I am a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) through the National Association of School Psychologists and hold a School Psychologist Certificate through the Maine Department of Education. My predoctoral training included internships at Maine Child Psychology and Touchstone Associates, where I gained extensive experience in both assessment and psychotherapy.

My clinical orientation is rooted in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and I have completed advanced training at the Albert Ellis Institute in New York City. REBT is similar to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) but places particular emphasis on identifying and challenging the irrational beliefs that perpetuate emotional dysfunction. The core philosophy is simple but powerful: it's not the events in our lives that disturb us, but rather our beliefs about those events.
